Artist STEFANIA LUCIANI BINNICK'S large-scale
oil brush paintings on linen are influenced by sumi-e
Japanese brush painting, and renaissance monumentality of the
figure.
Stefania has developed and worked in her unique individual style
of painting since the late 1990's. Her first oil brush paintings
were called the "Shroud Series- Paintings as Objects" about Camillo,
her "zio-nonno", Italian term of endearment for Uncle Grandfather.
Stefania made studies in conte pencil and oil of Camillo who was bed ridden
during a summer stay with her relatives of Lucianetti-Mozzagrogna. By the end
of her stay, Camillo was able to walk to his terrace, and garden.
Stefania graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1987.
Her work in painting, printmaking, and photography evolve, mix, and cross over in
each of the mediums she uses.
